| The program activities are rigorous and require a full time commitment (five days a week/ 40 hours per week).
Students can not work outside the fellowship. At the end of the program,
students are expected to provide a report of their summer activities including an abstract based on their research.
Training sites are located across the country. Students are
matched with mentors based on their research interest and/or
geographical area or students may apply with a preselected mentor. Both student and proposed mentor must complete an application.
Participants will be asked to complete evaluations during and immediately after the program and give annual progress reports.
Students will be asked about their mentors and their research experience. All
trainees will also be required to attend the START-MH Conference at UCSD
the first weekend of August (expenses paid) to present a poster on their
research experience and plans for future research careers. Students
are encouraged to work with their mentors after the 10-week
experience to complete and submit for review a journal style paper. Students
receiving other types of Federal Training support
during participation in the program will not be qualified for the stipend. Please contact START-MH for more
information. |
